Japan has launched the world’s fastest earthquake early warning system, aiming to give citizens more precious seconds to prepare before a quake strikes. Developed by the Japan Meteorological Agency in partnership with leading tech companies, the new system uses AI and hundreds of seismometers across the country. It can detect primary waves (P-waves) and send alerts in under 2 seconds.
